A recent study, published by the BMC Medicine, an inadequate diet, poor in nutrients and rich in unhealthy foods can reduce the brain, specifically the hippocampus, as you read it.
Within this group of unhealthy foods that can shrink the brain are those with high-fat content such as fast food, fried foods, soft drinks, and other soft drinks or high sugar levels.
This conclusion came after doing a study with 255 volunteers between 60 and 64 years. Those who were asked to share the diet they had followed in the last four years.
The researchers found that those who had followed a diet high in sugar, saturated fat and sodium had an obvious reduction in their hippocampus, regardless of their overall health.
This is the first study about the impact of unhealthy foods on our brain.
